4 à 8 Relations avec Edom.

Cette période arrivée à son terme, Israël, réuni de nouveau à Kadès, reçut l'ordre de reprendre le chemin de la mer Rouge pour passer au sud d'Edom et marcher ensuite vers le nord, à l'est du pays de Séir.

Ils auront peur de vous. Les Edomites, qui avaient fermé le passage à Israël dans la partie septentrionale de leur territoire, protégée par de hautes montagnes (Nombres 20.14-21) n'osèrent s'opposer à leur passage entre l'extrémité méridionale de leur pays et la mer Rouge.

Soyez bien sur vos gardes : pour ne pas vous laisser aller à les attaquer. Plus tard David soumit ces différents peuples (Psaumes 60.10), mais sans les détruire.
