Quand Dieu nous expose Ses promesses, Il espère que nous les prenons en considération, ce qui ne peut qu'honorer Sa fidélité. Qu'il est bon de voir Ses bénédictions « couler » des fontaines divines ! L'Israélite qui offrait les prémices de sa récolte, devait se rappeler comment il était parvenu en terre promise.

« Mon père était un Araméen » (ou un Syrien). Jacob était ici, ce Syrien. La nation d'Israël, au début, a séjourné en Égypte, en tant qu'étrangère : les Hébreux étaient réduits à l'esclavage. Ils étaient pauvres, méprisés et opprimés par les Égyptiens ; bien qu'il prospérait, Israël n'avait aucune raison d'être fier, de se croire en sécurité et d'oublier Dieu. Le peuple ne pouvait qu'être reconnaissant, pour la grande bonté que l'Éternel lui témoignait.

Le bien-être spirituel que nous éprouvons ici-bas, devrait nous inciter à proclamer ouvertement la paix qui règne en nous et la plénitude que nous avons en Christ ; nous devrions Le remercier pour toutes les bénédictions reçues préalablement et pour toutes celles que nous espérons recevoir.

L'Israélite devait offrir un panier de ses prémices. Quelles que soient les bontés que Dieu nous accorde, Il désire que nous en fassions le meilleur usage : ces bénédictions sont le reflet de ce que nous accorde la « Fontaine de consolation » : Christ !

      1 Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it;
      2 that you might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

      1 If there arise in the midst of you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give you a sign or a wonder,
      9 but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
