Et il arrivera que si tu écoutes attentivement la voix de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, pour prendre garde à pratiquer tous ses commandements que je te commande aujourd'hui, l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te mettra très-haut au-dessus de toutes les nations de la terre ;

Ce chapitre est un large exposé se concentrant sur deux mots : la bénédiction et la malédiction, deux entités aux effets bien manifestes ! Les bénédictions sont d'abord traitées.

Dieu est lent à la colère et toujours prêt à manifester rapidement Sa miséricorde. Il aime bénir. Il est préférable, en ce qui nous concerne, que notre conduite soit animée par l'espérance de jouir de la faveur divine, plutôt que par la crainte de subir les effets de la colère du ciel.

La bénédiction est promise aux enfants d'Israël, à condition qu'ils écoutent attentivement la voix de l'Éternel.

Efforçons-nous donc de garder et de mettre en pratique tous les commandements de Dieu, sous toutes leurs formes, que ce soit au sein de notre famille, ou dans notre pays ; la Providence divine nous fera alors prospérer dans toutes nos entreprises !
