World English Bible were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should judge wrongly, lest they should say, 'Our hand is exalted, Yahweh has not done all this.'"

Ne se méprennent (Jérémie 19.4) sur la vraie cause de la destruction d'Israël. Ils l'attribueraient à leur force et non pas à la justice divine. Dieu, pour qui toute élévation humaine est une abomination, ne pourrait supporter une telle erreur sans impatience.
