Ecclésiaste 3.14

J’ai reconnu que tout ce que Dieu fait dure à toujours, il n’y a rien à y ajouter et rien à en retrancher. Dieu agit (ainsi) afin qu’on ait de la crainte en sa présence.
יָדַ֗עְתִּי כִּ֠י כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַעֲשֶׂ֤ה הָאֱלֹהִים֙ ה֚וּא יִהְיֶ֣ה לְעוֹלָ֔ם עָלָיו֙ אֵ֣ין לְהוֹסִ֔יף וּמִמֶּ֖נּוּ אֵ֣ין לִגְרֹ֑עַ וְהָאֱלֹהִ֣ים עָשָׂ֔ה שֶׁיִּֽרְא֖וּ מִלְּפָנָֽיו׃
Je le sais, tout ce que Dieu fait, cela dure toujours. Il n’y a rien à ajouter et rien à enlever. Et Dieu agit ainsi pour qu’on le respecte.

Segond 21 J'ai reconnu que tout ce que Dieu fait durera toujours, sans qu’on puisse ajouter ou enlever quoi que ce soit, et que Dieu agit de cette manière afin qu'on éprouve de la crainte devant lui.

World English Bible I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; and God has done it, that men should fear before him.

Pour toujours. Ces mots ne contredisent pas ce qui a été dit, que chaque chose a son moment et sa durée ; ils signifient que ce que Dieu fait, il le fait tel qu'il l'a résolu irrévocablement. L'œuvre divine est fixée à jamais. L'homme voudrait la modifier, qu'il ne le pourrait pas. Et si même il le pouvait, il ne ferait que de la gâter. Qu'il craigne donc ! Respect et confiance !
