World English Bible For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

Offre un abri, littéralement : met à l'ombre, sans cependant qu'il y ait ici une allusion au verset 11 (qui voient le soleil) : l'ombre est l'image de la protection (Psaumes 91.4 ; Esaïe 30.2). Un héritage met à l'abri des privations qu'impose la pauvreté, et la sagesse ou la connaissance, à l'abri du mécontentement.

Fait vivre. Comparez Proverbes 3.18 ; Psaumes 36.10.
