Esaïe 14.19

La privation de sépulture est, selon les idées des anciens, le plus cruel des outrages. On ne peut donc tomber plus bas que ce rejeton d'une race antique dont l'âme est insultée par les ombres, pendant que son corps est foulé aux pieds comme une branche pourrie.

Les pierres de la fosse ne sont pas les pierres du tombeau (voir verset 15, note) ; ce sont les assises souterraines de rocher dans les profondeurs desquelles est creusé le schéol.
