Liban, Carmel, Saron : endroits de la Palestine célèbres par la richesse de leur végétation ; le prophète les choisit donc pour donner l'idée d'une fertilité extraordinaire. Le désert reçoit cette brillante parure pour célébrer dignement la présence de Dieu.

Ils : le peuple des rachetés (versets 9 et 10).

La gloire de l'Eternel : Jéhova lui-même apparaissant au milieu de son peuple. Le salut messianique est présenté, ici et ailleurs, par le prophète comme la suprême apparition de Dieu sur la terre (voir 40.5 ; 7.14 : Dieu avec nous ; comparez Malachie 3.1).
