Le gouverneur. Nous'rendons ainsi le mot persan thirschatha. Il s'agit ici de Zorobabel, le chef politique de la colonie (comparez Néhémie 7.65,70). Thirschatha signifie peut-être : Seigneur de la province ; selon d'autres : Lieutenant du roi.

Des choses très saintes. Voir Lévitique 6.25, note. Ils ne pouvaient plus prendre part qu'aux sacrifices d'un ordre secondaire.

Jusqu'à ce qu'il y eut un sacrificateur pour consulter l'Urim et le Thummim : qui pût consulter... Il y avait un sacrificateur, mais l'arche, le Lieu très saint, les chérubins entre lesquels Dieu résidait, peut-être même le pectoral, tout cela avait disparu. On ne pouvait plus se présenter devant l'Eternel (Exode 25.22 ; 28.30 ; Nombres 27.21). Zorobabel a attendu en vain le retour de l'ancien ordre de choses. Désormais c'est par son Esprit (Zacharie 7.6) que Dieu va se révéler à son peuple.
