Exode 31.1-18

Segond 21 Vous respecterez le sabbat, car il est saint pour vous. Celui qui le violera sera puni de mort. Oui, toute personne qui accomplira un travail ce jour-là sera exclue de son peuple.

World English Bible You shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Doit être mis à mort. Les prescriptions sabbatiques antérieures (16.22 ; 20.9 ; 23.12) ne contenaient rien de semblable. Le sabbat étant le signe distinctif de l'alliance, on comprend que celui qui le violait rompait l'alliance et méritait la mort. Comparez Nombres 15.32-36, qui montre que le supplice était la lapidation.
