5 et 6 Dans ce cas, il s'agit d'un départ tout à fait exceptionnel. Ezéchiel ne doit ni sortir son bagage, ni partir lui-même par la porte, mais par un trou pratiqué dans la muraille de sa maison. L'obscurité de la nuit est donc choisie, non en vue de la commodité, mais pour figurer une fuite nocturne. Enfin, il doit partir la face voilée ; c'est un symbole de douleur, d'humiliation et de honte (2Samuel 15.30).
