Les versets Hébreux 10.8,9 répètent, en l'abrégeant et en l'expliquant, la citation renfermée à Hébreux 10.5-7.

Le grand fait que proclament les paroles divines est si important aux yeux de l'auteur, qu'il éprouve le besoin d'y insister pour arriver à cette conclusion : il abolit le premier, c'est à dire les sacrifices et les offrandes, et il établit le second, savoir son propre sacrifice, (Hébreux 10.10) auquel l'écriture donne ici, comme partout, le caractère d'une parfaite obéissance. (Comparer Philippiens 2.8, note.)
