World English Bible Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

Il faut traduire ainsi le commencement de ce verset, et non : le mariage est honorable à tous égards.

Ce que veut l'auteur, c'est condamner l'adultère et tous les genres de souillure de la chair, comme le montrent les mots qu'il ajoute : et le lit conjugal sans souillure, car Dieu jugera les fornicateurs et les adultères.

Ce contexte montre que son intention n'est pas de combattre l'erreur de ceux qui dépréciaient l'institution du mariage. (1Timothée 4.3)

Au lieu de : à tous égards, (grec) en toutes choses, beaucoup d'interprètes traduisent : parmi tous, chez tous.

L'auteur voudrait dire : le mariage doit être également respecté par tous, par ceux qui sont mariés et qui doivent tenir leur union conjugale pour une chose sainte, et par ceux qui, n'étant pas mariés eux-mêmes, doivent honorer le mariage d'autrui.
