Tu n'échapperas point... Comparez 21.7 où Jérémie avait déjà prononcé une sentence générale semblable sur le roi, les chefs et le peuple tout entier, en réponse à une question de Sédécias qui se flattait encore de la délivrance. Mais cette menace n'avait qu'un caractère collectif. Car prise à la lettre et appliquée à tous les individus, elle exclurait jusqu'à la possibilité d'une déportation quelconque à la suite de la ruine annoncée. Dans ce passage-ci il s'agit du sort de Sédécias personnellement. Le prophète déclare qu'il participera au malheur qui frappera tout son peuple. Mais il ajoute en sa faveur dans le verset suivant une restriction importante.
