Nouvelle accusation détournée, à l'adresse de Dieu : Si le bonheur des méchants était leur propre œuvre, je ne m'en préoccuperais pas outre mesure... Job ne poursuit pas son raisonnement, mais on comprend ce qu'il veut dire.

Loin de moi ! Tout en constatant cette étonnante prospérité des méchants, Job tient à se séparer d'eux ; il ne se laissera pas séduire.
