Les princes : les chefs des cinq principales villes des Philistins.

Mille et cent sicles, c'est-à-dire mille et plus, comme 17.2. Le sicle valant quinze grammes, 1100 sicles font 16 kilos et demi. Cela faisait donc une somme énorme pour cette époque, et qui montre combien Samson était redouté.
