Esaïe 29.13 Cité avec quelques variations d'après les Septante, qui rendent bien le sens de l'hébreu.

- Quand Esaïe prophétisait ainsi, il pensait certainement avant tout aux hommes de son temps.

Mais le Seigneur n'hésite pas à appliquer à ses auditeurs une parole divine qui reste vraie dans tous les temps et qu'ainsi devient une prophétie de l'avenir, tandis que, pour Esaïe, elle s'accomplissait dans le présent.
