Jusqu'ici les vignerons ont maltraité et tué les serviteurs du maître, afin de ne pas lui livrer ses fruits ; maintenant qu'ils tiennent l'héritier, ils pensent qu'en le mettant à mort, rien ne pourra s'opposer à ce qu'ils prennent possession de son héritage.

- Les mots : ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne et le tuèrent, servent à décrire vivement cette scène tragique, et il est douteux qu'il faille y voir une prédiction du fait que Jésus fut crucifié hors de Jérusalem. (Voir Marc 12.8, note.)

      39 So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
