Cette nuée était là, en tant que signe visible et symbole de la présence divine au milieu d'Israël. Nous pouvons en conclure qu'il nous faut voir Dieu, continuellement à nos côtés, nuit et jour. Tant que la nuée restait au dessus du tabernacle, le peuple demeurait à cet endroit. Tant que nous attendons le moment dicté par Dieu, il n'y a pas de temps perdu. Quand la nuée s'élevait, le peuple se mettait en marche, quittant ainsi le confort de son campement. Nous devons être continuellement prêts à quitter notre maison terrestre, notre « tabernacle », au commandement du Seigneur. Il est très sécurisant et plaisant de se déplacer quand nous voyons Dieu nous guider, et de nous reposer quand Il nous commande de le faire. Le guidage de cette nuée est une image significative de la conduite, pleine de bénédictions, que nous apporte le Saint-Esprit.

Quand nous lisons ce texte, relatif à la nuée, il ne faut pas nous attendre à voir de telles manifestations divines de nos jours, pour nous guider ; mais la promesse pour « l'Israël spirituel » que nous sommes, est formelle : Dieu guide les siens par Son conseil, Psaume 73:24, et ce, jusqu'à la mort, Psaume 48:14. Tous les enfants de Dieu sont guidés par Son Esprit, Romains 8:14. Il aplanira les sentiers de tous ceux qui Le reconnaissent, Proverbes 3:6. Au commandement envoyé par l'Éternel, nos cœurs devraient toujours être prêts à partir ou à se reposer, en disant : « Père, que Ta volonté soit faite ; dispose de ma personne selon Ton bon plaisir. J'accomplirai ce que Tu veux, où Tu veux. Je t'appartiens, fais-moi connaître la voie de mon devoir » ! Rien ne sera alors meilleur pour nous, que de suivre les principes enseignés par la Parole, tout en priant avec ferveur.

Quand un projet est manifestement mauvais, ou douteux, alors que l'on a l'impression de voir un signe de Dieu, cette « nuée qui nous commande de lever le camp », il ne s'agit en fait rien d'autre que de la tentation, envoyée par Satan ; les hommes s'adonnent alors à leurs lubies, étant pleinement convaincus qu'ils servent le Seigneur. Si, en toute humilité, nous recherchons la volonté de Dieu, ce Dernier, dans Sa grâce, nous conduira, par Sa Vérité infaillible, en Jésus-Christ, vers une paix éternelle.

Suivons la colonne de nuée et de feu ! Que la Bible soit gravée dans notre cœur, recevons Sa Parole avec humilité, La seule qui puisse conduire notre âme vers le Salut !
