Dans les délices, l'opulence, l'abondance de tous biens. Un sot ne pourrait en user avec modération. D'ailleurs les richesses et les honneurs sont la récompense de la sagesse (3.16 ; 8.18) ; ce serait une contradiction et une dérision que de les voir dans la possession des sots.

Ce qui serait plus anormal encore, ce serait de voir un esclave arriver, à force d'intrigues, à commander à ceux que leur naissance et leur pouvoir réel plaçaient au-dessus de lui (30.22). Peut-être avons-nous ici une allusion à l'ascendant que des êtres dégradés, tels que les eunuques, prennent quelquefois et exercent sur les cours de l'Orient. Voir aussi Ecclésiaste 10.7.
