Ce verset répond à une objection suggérée par le précédent. Il est relativement facile de ne pas chercher à plaire aux petits ; mais le souverain n'est-il pas un dieu sur la terre ? Réponse : L'Eternel est le Seigneur des seigneurs. De Dieu seul procèdent les vraies faveurs et les châtiments véritables.
