You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel!

23 à 32 Les conséquences glorieuses.

Plus la situation a été désespérée, plus aussi la gloire de Dieu éclate dans la délivrance de celui qui a tant souffert. Aussi l'effet de cette délivrance sera-t-il que l'Eternel sera glorifié en Israël et jusqu'au bout du monde. Le psalmiste a conscience du lien intime qui l'unit à son peuple et même à toute l'humanité, et qui est tel que, lorsqu'il souffre, c'est le peuple de Dieu qui souffre, et lorsqu'il est délivré, c'est Israël qui revient à la vie. Le chapitre 53 d'Esaïe, qui se rapproche à tant d'égards de notre psaume, développe dans sa dernière partie la même pensée, qu'il applique au Messie. Et c'est bien en la personne de Christ qu'ont été concentrées la condamnation et la délivrance de toute l'humanité.

23 à 27 Israël, le premier, entendra parler de la grande délivrance. L'accent devient triomphant ; le langage poétique est plus ample, les strophes plus développées, les stiches, dans la dernière strophe surtout, s'allongent.

A mes frères. Après avoir souffert, le héros du psaume se sent uni par une tendre affection à tous ceux qui craignent l'Eternel. Remarquez l'analogie entre cette parole et celle du Sauveur (Jean 20.17) : Va et dis à mes frères que je monte...
