Son âme reposera dans le bonheur : à la fois dans le bien, au sens moral du mot, et dans le bonheur proprement dit.

Héritera la terre. Dans un sens restreint, la terre désigne le pays de Canaan, que Dieu a en effet donné à la postérité d'un homme qui marchait dans ses voies. Mais la promesse a aussi un sens plus vaste, qui est celui de la béatitude : Heureux les débonnaires, car ils hériteront la terre (Matthieu 5.5 Comparez Apocalypse 5.10 ; Psaumes 37.18,29).
