A cause de mon péché. Cet aveu montre que quand David en appelle à la justice de Dieu (verset 2) et se dit lui-même juste (verset 19), il ne se fait néanmoins pas d'illusion sur son état devant Dieu. Les accusations de ses ennemis sont fausses, mais l'Eternel a le droit de l'accuser.
