5 à 8 Les ennemis au dehors, le Dieu vivant au dedans.

Un fleuve. En face des tempêtes dont il vient d'être parlé, le psalmiste compare la grâce salutaire dont le peuple de Dieu est l'objet, à un fleuve paisible, dont les eaux vives, se ramifiant comme celles du paradis (Genèse 2.10), portent partout avec elles la fraîcheur et la fertilité (Esaïe 33.21 ; 66.12 ; Psaumes 36.9).
