Le Seigneur dit une parole, et les messagères de bonnes nouvelles sont légion.

12 à 24 La victoire récente.

Un ordre. Cet ordre est le signal de guerre donné par Dieu même. David n'entreprenait pas une guerre sans consulter l'Eternel (1Samuel 23.11-12 ; 30.7 ; 2Samuel 2.1 ; 5.19-23). Il n'avait certainement pas manqué de le faire, lorsque l'arche était partie pour la guerre ammonite. L'ordre divin contient en lui-même la victoire. C'est pourquoi la bataille elle-même est passée sous silence. Mais nous voyons quel en est le double résultat : un cortège joyeux de femmes célébrant en chœur la victoire, et l'armée en déroute des rois ennemis. Peut-être les versets 13 à 15 sont-ils comme les échos des chants de victoire des messagères de bonnes nouvelles. Comparez Exode 15.20 ; 1Samuel 18.6-7 ; 2Samuel 1.20.
