Son dieu. Restant en Moabie, Orpa ne pouvait autrement que de continuer à adorer le dieu de son peuple, Camos (Nombres 21.29).

Remarquez la bonne résolution de Ruth, et sa grande affection envers Naomi. Orpa répugnait à quitter son pays, elle n'éprouvait pas, envers Naomi, assez d'amour qui puisse justifier son départ de Moab.

Beaucoup de personnes ont de l'estime et de l'affection pour Christ, sans toutefois vouloir bénéficier de Son salut, car ils ne veulent pas abandonner pour Lui, ce qui les attire en ce monde. Malgré cette estime pour Jésus, ils prennent la résolution de ne pas le suivre : en fait, ils ne L'aiment pas suffisamment, préférant les attraits d'ici-bas, qu'ils estiment meilleurs !

Ruth est un exemple de la Grâce de Dieu, incitant l'âme à choisir « la meilleure part ». Naomi ne désirait rien de plus que la déclaration solennelle que lui fit sa belle-fille. Remarquez au passage, la puissance d'une telle résolution : elle fait taire toute tentation de rester en Moab. Ceux qui empruntent les voies de la piété avec un esprit non résolu, sont comme une porte entr'ouverte, qui laisse toute liberté d'entrer aux voleurs !

Les fermes résolutions verrouillent les portes aux attaques du diable, en le forçant à fuir !
