Demandez la pluie au SEIGNEUR quand les champs ont besoin d’eau. C’est lui qui produit les orages. Il fera tomber beaucoup d’eau et il donnera à chacun de l’herbe dans son champ.

Zacharie 10.1-12

Demandez à l'Eternel. L'Eternel promet, mais l'homme doit s'approprier la promesse et la lui présenter à son tour sous forme de prière.

De la pluie. Cette image de la bénédiction divine se rattache à celle par laquelle se terminait le tableau précédent (le froment et le moût, 9.17).

Au printemps. Littéralement : Au temps de la pluie de l'arrière-saison, c'est-à-dire de la saison qui précède immédiatement la moisson (dès avril ; Jérémie 5.24 ; Joël 2.23).

C'est l'Eternel qui fait... : non pas en ce moment, mais toujours.

Différentes bénédictions spirituelles sont promises dans ce texte, sous la forme imagée d’une abondante récolte terrestre. La pluie en sa saison est une grande bénédiction que nous pouvons demander à Dieu quand nous en avons besoin : sachons donc l’attendre, par la foi ! Sachons demander au Seigneur, par la prière, diverses bénédictions. Il est tout à fait capable, comme nous l’annonce ce texte, de nous apporter des « nuées » et de faire « tomber la pluie ».

Cette image est peut-être une exhortation à rechercher les bénédictions du Saint-Esprit, par la foi et par la prière, selon les promesses divines.

Le prophète montre la folie qui consiste à s'adresser aux idoles, comme l'ont fait les pères des enfants d’Israël. L’Éternel, dans Sa grande Miséricorde a visité ce qu’il restait des enfants d’Israël et s'apprêtait à renouveler leur courage et leurs forces, en vue de la bataille et de la victoire.

Le Seigneur a prévu une tâche pour chacune de Ses créatures. Chacun des enfants d’Israël allait être appelé à soutenir la nation, telle la pierre angulaire qui soutient un édifice ; envoyés par Dieu, tous devaient s’unir pour vaincre leurs ennemis ; ils devaient obtenir leur force et parvenir au succès, grâce au Seigneur.

Nous pouvons exploiter l’enseignement de ce texte, en nous tournant vers le Seigneur, Celui qui unifie, qui soutient et défend Son peuple. On ne Le recherchera jamais en vain !
