Nous trouvons ici le développement de cette idée : Vous serez bénédiction. Déjà plus d'une fois Zacharie avait fait allusion à la conversion future des peuples païens (2.11 ; 6.15). Il trace ici avec enthousiasme le tableau de cet événement futur qui comblera la gloire d'Israël pardonné et purifié.

De villes nombreuses. En hébreu, le même mot rabboth qui est employé dans plusieurs circonstances relatives aux païens ; comparez 2.11 (dans l'hébreu, 2.15).

La conversion de toutes ces nations à l'Eternel est représentée sous l'image d'un pèlerinage qu'elles font à Jérusalem, mais sans la moindre allusion aux pèlerinages des Juifs pour les fêtes solennelles. C'est quelque chose de constant. Comparez une image semblable, Michée chapitre 2 et Esaïe chapitre 4.
