Malgré la fin du verset le plus simple est de penser à cette dernière époque, quoique Néhémie 11.19 ne parle que de 172 hommes et Esdras 2.42 de 139. Au temps de David, d'après 1Chroniques 26.8-11, le nombre des portiers n'était que de 93.
