Jugé doit être traduit par discerné, c'est-à-dire que la prophétie exerce en même temps sur cette âme le "discernement des esprits" (1Corinthiens 12.10 et verset 2, note), et lui révélera les choses cachées au dedans d'elle, (verset 25) d'où pourra résulter son humiliation et sa conversion.
Tous veut dire : tous ceux qui ont le don de prophétie, et quand l'apôtre s'exprime ainsi : "Si tous prophétisent," c'est une simple supposition destinée a rendre plus frappant son raisonnement : "lors même que tous prophétiseraient, il n'en résulterait pas l'inconvénient du don des langues, (verset 23) mais au contraire..." (Comparer aussi, pour ce qu'il y aurait à faire, même dans ce cas, versets 29,30)
