Un chrétien est toujours en danger spirituellement et doit donc sans cesse se tenir sur ses gardes. Il doit être « enraciné » dans la foi que donne l'Évangile, et ne jamais l'abandonner. À l’heure de la tentation, ce n'est que par la foi qu'il pourra résister.

Les Chrétiens doivent veiller à ce que la charité (l’amour) règne non seulement dans leur cœur, mais resplendisse également dans leur vie. Il y a une grande différence entre la fermeté d’une bonne conduite chrétienne et la fièvre qui pollue et anime le monde.

Dans ce texte, l'apôtre donne des directives particulières à ceux qui servaient la cause de Christ, parmi les Corinthiens. Ceux qui servent les saints et qui ne veulent être sujets d'aucun reproche, doivent recevoir la déférence et l’amour de leurs frères et sœurs en Christ.

Les Corinthiens devaient reconnaître la valeur des personnes mentionnées dans ce texte, ainsi que de tous ceux qui travaillaient avec l'apôtre Paul.
