Leçon de Sin., B. A ; les autres majuscules portent : vous étiez comme des brebis errantes.

Des brebis abandonnées à elles-mêmes sont les plus faibles, les plus misérables créatures, exposées à tous les dangers.

Tel est l'homme, (Matthieu 9.36,Luc 15.4 ; Jean 10.10-16) tant qu'il n'a pas été ramené à Celui que Pierre nomme ici le berger ou pasteur et gardien (il emploie le mot qui a désigné plus tard l'évêque) des âmes, à celui qui les paît et les garde comme ses brebis. Ce sont là des titres bien choisis pour exprimer les tendres soins que le Sauveur prend de ses rachetés.

Vous êtes retournés, (grec) vous vous êtes retournés, convertis. (1Thessaloniciens 1.9) Cette conversion est la raison subjective (car) de la guérison que les croyants ont obtenue par la mort du Rédempteur. (verset 24)
