2 Chroniques 11.16

Et à leur suite, de toutes les tribus d'Israël, ceux qui avaient à coeur de chercher l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, vinrent à Jérusalem pour sacrifier à l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères.

Pour sacrifier à l'Eternel : et pour y demeurer (voir verset 17), tout comme les sacrificateurs et les Lévites ; d'après 1Rois 12.28, Jéroboam voulait précisément empêcher les pèlerinages à Jérusalem. Ceux qui avaient à cœur de suivre le culte de Jéhova étaient par là même obligés de s'établir à Jérusalem.
