After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia.

When he had gone through those parts, and had encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece.

I had no relief for my spirit, because I didn't find Titus, my brother, but taking my leave of them, I went out into Macedonia.

For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside.

Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

So we urged Titus, that as he made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace.

But thanks be to God, who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.

- Après avoir écrit sa première lettre, l'apôtre alla à Troas, où il eut l'occasion d'annoncer l'Evangile ; mais n'y ayant point trouvé Tite, qu'il attendait de Corinthe avec des nouvelles de l'Eglise et de l'effet produit par son épître, (2Corinthiens 7.5-7) il ne put goûter aucun repos, et il passa en Macédoine, afin de se rapprocher de Corinthe, et sans doute d'en recevoir des nouvelles.
Quel ardent amour des âmes et de leurs intérêts éternels ! Celui qui l'éprouvait avait le droit d'écrire les instructions qui suivent sur le ministère de la Parole.
