Sion. Ce nom, que l'on explique diversement (brûlé du soleil ; rocher dressé ou rocher brillant ; château fort). désignait originairement la colline orientale de Jérusalem, sur laquelle fut bâtie le temple ; voir à Esaïe 2.2 ; Michée 4.1,8 ; Jérémie 34.4, notes. Il a été appliqué plus tard à la ville entière, et depuis le moyen-âge spécialement à la colline occidentale. Beaucoup de savants pensent encore aujourd'hui qu'il désigne ici et ailleurs cette seconde localité ; voir à verset 9.
