Actes 22.25

On va attacher Paul pour le fouetter. Mais à ce moment-là, il dit à l’officier qui est présent : « Vous voulez fouetter un citoyen romain que vous n’avez même pas jugé ! Est-ce que vous en avez le droit ? »
Lorsqu'on l'eut exposé au fouet, Paul dit au centenier qui était présent : Vous est-il permis de battre de verges un citoyen romain, qui n'est pas même condamné ?

      43 But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;
