Cette figure de la queue du dragon qui entraîne le tiers des étoiles est inspirée, probablement, par la constellation du dragon.

Quant à la chute des étoiles, elle est, dans Daniel 8.10, l'œuvre de la petite corne. Il est impossible d'en établir le sens avec quelque certitude. Les uns y voient la détection d'anges entraînés par Satan dans sa révolte d'autres, l'idée que Satan cause des désordres dans le royaume de Dieu ; d'autres encore, qu'il se sert, pour l'accomplissement de son œuvre sur la terre, des forces du monde invisible.
