World English Bible I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, something like frogs;

Cette nouvelle apparition suit immédiatement le fait décrit à verset 12 : pour achever l'œuvre qu'il a commencée en livrant passage aux rois de l'Orient par le dessèchement de l'Euphrate, Dieu laisse agir des puissances diaboliques, qui séduiront les rois de toute la terre (comparez 1Rois 22.20 et suivants) pour les entraîner à Harmaguédon.

Les trois esprits sortent de la bouche du dragon, (Apocalypse 12.3 et suivants) de la bête (Apocalypse 13.1,2) et du faux prophète : (Apocalypse 13.11 et suivants) ce trait signifie probablement qu'ils exerceront leur séduction par des discours trompeurs. Ce sont des esprits impurs, comme ceux que mentionnent les évangiles. (Matthieu 10.1 ; 12.43 ; Marc 1.21 ; Luc 4.33, etc.)

Ils sont semblables à des grenouilles ; cette comparaison n'a pas été inspires par la plaie d'Egypte (Exode 8.2) mais par les caractères mêmes de ces animaux, qui vivent dans les marais, sont petits, impuissants, et qui cependant, par le bruit qu'ils font, ont toujours paru aux moralistes un symbole de l'enflure ridicule et de la loquacité criarde. Tels sont les esprits qui mènent la campagne contre l'Eglise et contre son Christ.
