Comparer verset 12 et Apocalypse 1.16, 2e note.

Cette menace concerne les Nicolaïtes et ceux qui sont désignés au verset 14. L'Église en entier devait se repentir (comparez verset 5, note) à cause d'eux et avec eux. Sans cela, le Seigneur annonce un jugement qui sera exécuté par l'épée de sa bouche (Apocalypse 1.16, 2e note) c'est-à-dire par sa Parole toute-puissante, cette même Parole qui fait vivre et qui fait mourir. (Esaïe 11.4)

Dans cette image il y a peut-être une réminiscence du trait rapporté Nombres 22.31.
