Il a vaincu toutes les puissances des ténèbres qui s'opposent à son règne. C'est ainsi qu'il faut entendre ces principautés et autorités. (1Jean 3.8. Comparer Ephésiens 6.12)

Il les a dépouillées de leur puissance, et exposées, non seulement en spectacle, mais à la honte, à l'ignominie. (Comparer Matthieu 1.19 ; Hébreux 6.6, où se trouve le même verbe grec.) Et ce triomphe sur elles, il l'a remporte en et par la croix de son Fils.

Nous traduisons : en la croix, bien qu'il n'y ait ici qu'un pronom (en elle, la croix de verset 14) ; d'autres traduisent : en lui (Christ), avec moins de raison.
