"Il nous a rendus agréables (ou graciés) dans le Bien-aimé" est une expression qui indique admirablement le rapport dans lequel Christ nous met avec Dieu : lui seul est le Bien-aimé du Père ; en lui Dieu nous rend sa grâce, en sorte qu'il nous voit en Christ avec le même amour qu'il a pour Christ lui-même. Et puisque tout cela vient de Dieu, il manifeste ainsi la louange de la gloire de sa grâce.

Tel est le but qu'il se propose en nous, et auquel nous devons concourir par toute notre existence dans le temps et dans l'éternité. (Comparer 1Pierre 2.9)

- D'après une variante il faudrait traduire simplement : "Sa grâce qu'il nous a accordée en son Bien-aimé."
