World English Bible He said, "You shall rejoice no more, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim. Even there you will have no rest."

Fille de Sidon. La population de Sidon vaincue est comparée à une vierge déshonorée.

Passe à Kittim. Comme Tyr a fui à Tarsis (verset 6), Sidon devra se réfugier en Chypre. Mais là même les fugitifs ne trouvent pas le repos : la colonie émancipée refuse de les accueillir. Les colonies phéniciennes supportaient impatiemment le joug de leurs métropoles. Peu de temps avant le siège de Tyr par Salmanasar, le roi Eluléus avait dû réprimer une révolte des Cypriotes.
