"You shall observe a feast to me three times a year.

You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib (for in it you came out from Egypt), and no one shall appear before me empty.

And the feast of harvest, the first fruits of your labors, which you sow in the field: and the feast of harvest, at the end of the year, when you gather in your labors out of the field.

Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yahweh.

"It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you:

"Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, shall be a solemn rest to you, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.

"However on the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement: it shall be a holy convocation to you, and you shall afflict yourselves; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

You shall do no kind of work in that same day; for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before Yahweh your God.

For whoever it is who shall not deny himself in that same day; shall be cut off from his people.
30
Whoever it is who does any kind of work in that same day, that person I will destroy from among his people.
31
You shall do no kind of work: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32
It shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall deny yourselves. In the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall keep your Sabbath."

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

"Speak to the children of Israel, and say, 'On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of tents for seven days to Yahweh.
35
On the first day shall be a holy convocation: you shall do no regular work.
36
Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. On the eighth day shall be a holy convocation to you; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. It is a solemn assembly; you shall do no regular work.
37
"'These are the appointed feasts of Yahweh, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh, a burnt offering, and a meal offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, each on its own day;
38
besides the Sabbaths of Yahweh, and besides your gifts, and besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings, which you give to Yahweh.
39
"'So on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruits of the land, you shall keep the feast of Yahweh seven days: on the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest.
40
You shall take on the first day the fruit of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your God seven days.
41
You shall keep it a feast to Yahweh seven days in the year: it is a statute forever throughout your generations; you shall keep it in the seventh month.
42
You shall dwell in booths seven days. All who are native-born in Israel shall dwell in booths,
43
that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.'"

Moses declared to the children of Israel the appointed feasts of Yahweh.

and one tenth part for every lamb of the seven lambs;

and one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for you;

besides the burnt offering of the new moon, and the meal offering of it, and the continual burnt offering and the meal offering of it, and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

"'On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation; and you shall afflict your souls: you shall do no kind of work;

but you shall offer a burnt offering to Yahweh for a pleasant aroma: one young bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old; they shall be to you without blemish;

and a tenth part for every lamb of the fourteen lambs;

"'On the second day you shall offer twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish;

and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance;

and one male goat for a sin offering; besides the continual burnt offering, and the meal offering of it, and their drink offerings.
20
"'On the third day eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish;
21
and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance;
22
and one male goat for a sin offering; besides the continual burnt offering, and the meal offering of it, and the drink offering of it.
23
"'On the fourth day ten bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish;
24
their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance;
25
and one male goat for a sin offering; besides the continual burnt offering, the meal offering of it, and the drink offering of it.
26
"'On the fifth day nine bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish;
27
and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance;
28
and one male goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, and the meal offering of it, and the drink offering of it.
29
"'On the sixth day eight bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old without blemish;
30
and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance;
31
and one male goat for a sin offering; besides the continual burnt offering, the meal offering of it, and the drink offerings of it.
32

their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bull, for the ram, and for the lambs, shall be according to their number, after the ordinance:

and one male goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, and the meal offering of it, and the drink offering of it.

"'You shall offer these to Yahweh in your set feasts, besides your vows, and your freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your meal offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.'"

Moses told the children of Israel according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses.

Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was assembled as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, to Yahweh at Mizpah.

Septième mois : de l'année où ils étaient revenus (verset 8).
Comme les fils d'Israël étaient dans leurs villes, d'après 2.70. Ceci explique comme quoi ils avaient à se rassembler de divers lieux pour être réunis.
Comme un seul homme : mus par un même sentiment, celui d'organiser le culte dans ses éléments essentiels et de ne pas laisser passer sans fête cette époque importante de l'année religieuse. Le verset 3 indiquera aussi un autre mobile, bien humain et bien naturel chez une colonie aussi faible (Genèse 35.15 ; 2Rois 17.25).
L'autel et la célébration des fêtes. (Esdras 3:1-7)
La conduite des Juifs, depuis leur arrivée à Jérusalem, nous enseigne, quand nos projets n'avancent pas selon nos désirs, qu'il faut commencer d'abord toute entreprise avec Dieu, et faire tout ce que nous pouvons pour Le louer.Les fondements du temple sont posés. (Esdras 3:8-13)
Les enfants d'Israël, dans l'immédiat, ne disposaient pas de temple, mais par contre, ils ne pouvaient pas rester sans autel. La crainte du danger devrait nous inciter à faire notre devoir. Avons-nous beaucoup d'ennemis ? Il est alors bon d'avoir Dieu comme Ami, et de rester en communion avec Lui ! Nos craintes devraient nous conduire à nous agenouiller.
Les sacrifices opérés par les enfants d'Israël, leur occasionnaient de lourdes dépenses, ce peuple étant en fait relativement pauvre ; malgré cela, sans compter les holocaustes expressément désignés, beaucoup apportèrent en plus, des offrandes volontaires à l'Éternel. Ils commencèrent ensuite, sans tarder, à préparer la construction du temple : quelle que soit l'œuvre que Dieu nous appelle à réaliser, nous pouvons compter sur Sa Providence pour nous fournir tous les moyens nécessaires !
