Effet de cette nouvelle sur Esdras.

Je déchirai mon vêtement (de dessous) et mon manteau. Comparez Josué 7.6 et Lévitique 10.6.

Et je m'arrachai les cheveux et la barbe, littéralement : Et j'arrachai des poils de ma tête et de mon menton. Signe, non pas de deuil comme la tonsure qu'on pratiquait dans les grandes afflictions (Job 1.20), mais de vive émotion et de colère.

Désolé : muet, paralysé, étourdi par le coup.
