Cette image d'un navire est empruntée à la situation de Tyr, bâtie sur une île, d'où elle dominait les mers. Le prophète y reste fidèle d'un bout à l'autre du morceau, sauf dans quelques traits de détail (versets 11 : murailles, tours).
