De la Basse-Egypte le prophète passe à la Haute-Egypte (Pathros) ; puis il revient au Delta : Tsoan (Tanis), ville très antique (Nombres 13.23), où résidaient les Pharaons au temps de Moïse ; là se trouvait un sanctuaire fameux du dieu Ammon.

De là le prophète repasse à No (Thèbes), la capitale de la Haute-Egypte, avec le magnifique sanctuaire d'Ammon, d'où lui venait le nom de No-Amon (Nahum 3.8).
