Afin qu'aucun arbre... Ce jugement est venu de Dieu qui a voulu enseigner aux grands de la terre à mettre des bornes à leur ambition et à leur confiance en eux-mêmes.

Ils sont tous livrés à la mort. La terre est un cimetière où sont condamnés à descendre successivement les rois, les peuples et les empires ; voilà ce que la chute d'Assur apprend à tous.
