L'auteur pense sans doute aux souffrances d'Eléazar, rapportées /RAPC 2Ma 6 :18-31., et aux sept frères mis à mort avec leur mère.

Tous n'acceptèrent pas la délivrance qui leur était offerte à condition qu'ils reniassent leur foi, parce qu'ils croyaient à une résurrection meilleure que cette délivrance même. Ce sont leurs propres paroles. (/RAPC 2Ma 6 :26 ; comparez avec /RAPC 2Ma 7 :9,11,14,20,23,29,36), et aux sept frères mis à mort avec leur mère.
