Il faut (grec) poursuivre l'une et l'autre, l'une par l'autre.
- Quel motif pour des chrétiens d'avancer dans la sanctification ! Dieu étant la sainteté même, nul ne le verra, (Matthieu 5.8 ; 1Jean 3.2) c'est-à-dire ne pourra s'approcher de lui pour être en communion avec lui, sans la sanctification. (1Pierre 1.15,16 ; comparez Matthieu 5.48)
Nous ne sommes pas sauvés par la sanctification ; nous le sommes "par la grâce, par la foi ;" (Ephésiens 2.8) mais la grâce et la foi, si elles sont vivantes en nous, ont pour résultat nécessaire la sanctification.
